WHO THEY ARE: According to their website, since its inception in 2008, the WAG’N O2 FUR LIFE® Program has provided over 13,000 pet oxygen masks kits to more than 5,250 Fire & EMS departments in North America. They estimate that up to 10,500 Fire Departments and 2,700 EMS Vehicles have now acquired at least 1 pet oxygen mask kit.
In the United States alone, as of 2017, there are 29,819 fire departments and fire protection districts spread out in over 51,000 stations and approximately 78,258 credentialed EMS vehicles.
WHY WE WANT TO SUPPORT THEM: As impressive as that sounds, that’s only about 35% of fire departments and just 3.5% of EMS vehicles in the United States, so there is more work to be done getting every single department outfitted with a lifesaving oxygen mask for our pets.
We’d like to support the purchase and distribution of WAG’N O2 FUR LIFE® pet oxygen masks to first responders because the next pet’s life they save … may be your own! The kits cost about $90 a piece.
